Taste of Scilly: Truro School Cookery Demonstration & Dining Experience

Join us at Hell Bay during September for a weekend of cookery demonstrations and delicious dining experiences with the Truro School arm of the prestigious Leiths School of Food & Wine Academy.

Head to the Crab Shack - Scilly's most unique dining destination - for a spectacular cooking demonstration from guest chef AJ Turner as he prepares a three-course feast using local produce from Bryher's Island Fish and Hillside & Veronica Farms - then enjoy devouring it!

AJ is assistant head chef at Truro School of Cookery. A graduate from Leiths School of Food & Wine in London, AJ climbed the ladder at Rick Stein's Seafood Restaurant in Padstow where he received the 'Star of the Future' award, helped launch a new restaurant in Dorset and even tested recipes for new books.

You'll glean plenty of hints and tips as you watch AJ prepare and cook a delicious three course dinner, plus you'll leave with recipe cards to give you the confidence and inspiration to make the dishes again at home.

Then, the best bit: a delicious dining experience savouring the spectacular creations with accompanying wines...


The Menu

On arrival, enjoy arrival canapés using Salakee Farm duck from St Mary's, and a fresh Tarquins Hell Bay Gin and Tonic, followed by delicious Hillside Farm gazpacho with Bryher-landed crab.

Tastebuds truly tantalised, it's time for the main event: whole 'Island Fish' lobster linguine. Get wonderfully messy by working your way through a whole lobster served with sweet linguine flavoured with herbs from Bryher's Veronica Farm.

Sticking with a theme, Veronica Farm is also the inspiration for the dessert: a delicious trifle flavoured with Veronica Farm's famous coffee and clotted cream fudge.

Four workshop and meal events will take place throughout the weekend of 21st and 22nd September 2019, with a lunchtime workshop (starting at 11:30am) and dinner workshop (starting at 5:30pm) each day.

Pre-booking is essential and spaces are strictly limited at a price of £95 per person to include welcome drink and locally-sourced canapés, cookery demonstration, three course island-inspired meal and accompanying wines, and recipe cards to take away.
